DIl Dhadkne Do
DIL Dhadakne Do- is a journey and quite an interesting one. Zoya Akhtar's narrative style takes us through the lengthy yet important characterization in the first part of the film- which seems a little too longish and you keep wondering- all is well, but where are we heading??? So there is lot of happy singing, beautiful landscape, too many people and mostly dysfunctional families...you can identify the hypocrisy- how we just pretend so much for the society and forget to see what we want, what makes our families happy and what is important in the here and now.
The first part then feels like a total mess where you are able to follow how each character thinks and feels...but still dont know what follows next.
Then comes the refreshing second half- with super cool dialogues, entry of Farhan which paves way for more change..the story telling gets crisp and everything falls in place, almost layer by layer. You laugh..clap and wake up to more surprises and interesting twists which finally gives you a sense of closure. The end is warm and ties the movie well- and the dialogues are killer! Absolutely natural and flows smoothly.
Moving to the more technical bit- i hated most of the songs.. But one look at Ranveer and my heart melts. Well, he is the star ! Everyone else was great too- and such mature acting.. Kabir Mehra doesnt remind us of any other character Ranveer has ever played...and that is a plus.:)
A perfect example of Dysfunctional families who say- if couples fight and have issues /are not compatible, the birth of their child will change everything! BULL SHIT!
Or, when they say- post marriage, sasuraal is ur 'real home'... Force their children to stay put up in a marriage.. Or when' not compatible is misunderstood .Almost like - if there is no abuse, no infidelity- TOH PROBLEM KYA HAI? The counselor in me nodded and gave an imaginary Hi5 to whoever has written the script.
Some of my favourite scenes is where - Rahul bose the authoritarian husband talks about liberation and equal right and Farhan makes a comment- there is pin drop silence and suddenly a little voice says, love you! O boy- awesome:) AND then, when a lady pretends to kill herself and ranveer offers help, shows how exactly the nerve needs to be cut.. Its super funny.
Even the narration by Pluto mehra is cute. Perhaps it means that humans are the most complicated because they have emotions yet they dont communicate- whereas a dog's world is quite simple- uncluttered. May be..
DDD- is a little exaggerated but had a sensible end and is surely worth a watch. Please dont judge based on how real is it- enjoy it like a movie that is trying to say something to us, live in the here and now with people who matter... Do not Judge the cup, enjoy the coffee instead.. .going with a 4/5 for this one. ( biased because i am totally in love with ranveer)
PS: Dog lovers may find Pluto more lovable than anything else on screen...

ROY
Roy! Is extremely slow.. Boring and a total waste of time & money ...the 2.5 hours of torture made me wonder the evil I had engaged in.. For karma to hit me this way. I was confused... as to what the narrator had in mind. The only possible way to enjoy this crap is ..if ur high,,,may b on LSD.. I didn't experience any change in emotions throughout the movie... Like I was experiencing PTSD.. Numb.. Absolutely numb! Even when the audience tried hard to laugh at the strange things that were moving on screen.. I sat there thinking what I sud b feeling.. No other movie has made me feel so helpless.. U cant compare this movie with any other bad movie.. This is just a class apart. The only savior - songs and a tub of popcorn n Runa.
I did admire a fee things.. like the dark lipstick ..the songs... the last song where arjun was shirtless, but other than that, it was such a pain to sit through the entire film, especially because you feel so cheated!

PK: is a rare movie.. with a strong message. I wasn't too sure what to expect from the movie- honestly, Amir ka get up or the songs did not seem appealing.. but the movie buff that I am..i had to..had to watch it the first day itself! SO, Pk is a good movie and surely worth a watch. but it did remind me of OMG- similar message..similar concept..
Songs are not that great.. but worth a watch
SHAMITABH
So shamitab was just superb for a lot of out reasons: starting with the acting ... 10/10 dhanush is just brilliant.I don't know what about him I like do much but I did scream for him...n maroed seeti! The monkey is my new favourite 😍 n like I said Amitabh ki awaz kaafi hai..& the concept . Story.. Very unique . However..i felt the sharabi scenes were repeated very often and the climax was unexpected. I have issues with accepting an end like this..but that's my problem. But leaving that aside - shamitabh is a must watch. Purely because its a rare movie. Shhhh miii miiii.. And the engaging first half k liye 5/5 and second half ka little repetitions and ending gets 2.5/5. SHAMITABH whisky ho ya pani..humko toh dono hi pasand hai..😆

FINDING FANNY
FINDING FANNY: is different! it is not a regular Bollywood movie and is definitely very very hatke:) what makes this simple story watchable is awesome acting.... super funny sequence and the relaxed yet gripping tale. I loved it. it is like sitting on a secluded beach with a bottle of wine and just feeling happy... just like this may not appeal to many, finding fanny is also for people who can see beyond masala mix. the story is not about the destination , but about the journey...and how we discover peace and happiness along the journey of life. So sit back and enjoy the ride, laugh your heart out and I am sure you will leave the theatre with a smile. its worth a watch:) cheers! ( btw, even though my Ranveer Singh was on screen for exactly 10 sec..he is sooooo cute) ***** ohh feeennnyyyy reeeee****
DAWAT E ISHQ
DAWAT E ISHQ-
Is a 'FUN WATCH'...but the intellectual cells in my brain has a problem accepting a few things. Lets start with what is good about the movie- I think Parineeti and Aditya look very cute together and have acted aikdum natural. There are moments when i found everything very sweet..romantic (but my eyes were dry :P) I could also connect to the struggle some of us go through to find a boy- who speaks well! I mean that is the least we can ask for! But I guess the movie had a different agenda- that love sees beyond education ...looks etc etc, as long as the person is good and has a heart- full of love, to offer for the whole janam and may be more janams to follow!- now that is where I turned to my best friend and we both shared a blank look. You can contradict me, but honestly I don't agree to that. May be if the movie actually shaped the whole love thing better, I would have fallen for it..ki chalo okay they shared some good moments, and had similar interests or something as a base for marriage- I would have been convinced, But- NO!! everything was like a 'JHAT-PAT' affair. it almost felt like, the makers were in a hurry. The other morally difficult situation was, the dowry thing- which they term as help. So before marriage/after marriage when the help is asked by the guy, it is dowry and an offence.. but when the marriage happened and the girl set up her business, I wonder who funded for it? The guy I suppose.. so after marriage the 'help' becomes responsibility?! and the guy is expected to help.. I can go on .. but coming back to the movie bit, I feel it has quite a few fun moments and the hyderabadi accent is addictive. ITNA KHAANA BHOOKICH LAG GI MERKOO...:) yummm... i wish i could add a little different flavor to the DAWAT.. but edible ... 3/5 for this one.

QUEEN
So I watched Queen today!
Its real…something that most of us would relate to. It’s a happy movie which stays in the mind and brings a smile whenever u think about it. Queen is a journey of a woman who doesn’t run away from her pain, but finds a way to accept it…and that’s beautiful. I don’t know when the journey became my own..
Yes, from the first few minutes of the movie, there was a sense of cuteness, real emotions- may be because of the crisp story telling, or just by the feel- no make up, wavy hair, slight pimples- just how most of look on all normal days.. As the story progresses, we connect with Rani- be it her extreme sadness, her simplicity in getting up in the morning after crying all night and finding a laddoo and eating it- now that’s real.
Her journey- also shows the transformation from a girl who is scared to cross the road to someone who dares to fight a “jebkatra”. innocently she just makes her presence felt- u love every bit of queen. She hesitates, but doesnt stop- she doesn’t know the language, she manages.. she finds happiness and moves ahead! Lives her dream…even if it means to do it alone!
Some heart touching moments- finding a family with strangers, dancing on bollywood numbers(which putting her sweater in her purse), golgappe , the lizard…the final break up and how she gains confidence…
Throughout the movie, I was either clapping or marooning seeti or saying how cute!
Kangna is brilliant. She is probably the only person who could have pulled off this character. Everything is great about the movie- the songs, the direction, the acting, the story telling and even the ending. Its fresh and real and we all have a ‘queen ‘ in us. We just have to find her, respect her and love her…
Happy women’s day indeed! This is a treat – by far the cutest movie I have seen in the longest time..
I am going with a 5/5 for this one!
Feel like a queen and treat yourself like one-duniya gayi tel lene!
